What should I join, the Phoenix Police Department (det.), or the Phoenix FBI, and what degree should I get?

I'm more interested in criminal investigation rather than white collar crimes, so what should I chose? If I join the Phoenix police, I'll do my time as an officer, then probably transfer to the detective bureau.
