Any one own a samsung r20 laptop i need help?

i own the samsung r 20 laptop but need to know what to do to make the battery last onger, i can make it last just over an hr so if i want to watch a dvd on it i have to plug it into the mains socket. my old laptop was an advent and lasted 3 hrs when the battery worked. any ideas please help
